“I’ve made loads of new friends since coming to Cafe Zest, and I can cook for myself now”
Café Zest is a drop in facility for young care leavers living in Stockport to get together once a week on a Wednesday evening. It provides a safe social space to access practical and emotional support and most of all have fun!
Volunteer mentors (some of whom are older care leavers) support young people develop skills, confidence and provide access to information, advice and guidance in a friendly environment.
“I know if I’ve got problems I can’t sort out by myself, someone at Cafe Zest will help me”
It provides opportunity to develop support networks which many young care leavers do not have, learn how to cook and shop on a low budget (we cook together and everyone gets a free meal), get support to access education, employment or training and anything else young people request or need.
